Extensive work done in the field of Dermatology & Venereology for the last 15 years . Gained rich academic experience while presenting Seminars and Journal Clubs held regularly during that tenure. Detailed microbiological & clinical study related to ‘Nails’ was done as a part of MD thesis project. Preparation of smears for leprosy, fungal infections, STDs & certain viral infections & examining them under microscope was done routinely. During Senior Residency at Safdarjung Hospital, held an independent OPD, daily attending to 80-90 dermatology patients. Attended to special weekly STD, Vitiligo and Leprosy Clinics. Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students coming for clinical classes in the department also formed part of the curriculum. Attended various workshops, health melas & short training programmes during that tenure. Besides this took special interest in Dermatosurgery. Skin biopsy (punch, elliptical), RF ablation (for corns, warts, moles, acrochordon etc.) chemical cautry, Intratesional injections (of steroids, cytotoxic drugs, sclerosing agents), Milia & MC extraction were done routinely. Other procedures like chemical peeling, sebaceous cyst excision, ingrown toenail surgery, cryocautry, dermabrasion, ear lobe repair, scar revisions for acne and other scars, punch grafting and split thickness skin grafting for vitiligo were also commonly done. Treating acne scars remains a special area of interest.
