Mr. Shyamalendu Ghosal, Managing Director of NDMC conceptualized Nightingale Diagnostic and Medicare Center in September 1986 keeping in mind, the availability of limited healthcare facilities existing at that time particularly in the Ophthalmology Sector. Mr. Shyamalendu Ghosal also felt the dire need of the society for a good and reliable diagnostic center with adequate research facilities for the common populace at a very reasonable cost.Over the years, by the virtue of providing quality of Health Care, M/s Nightingale Diagnostic and Eye Care Research Center became a household name in this part of the world and never looked back. In 1997, due to repeated requests and appeals by the patients, the Indoor facilities were added. The existing diagnostic services were augmented by adding fully equipped Operation Theatres and different categories of bed facilities to cater for all sectors of the population. Due to broadened horizons of the institution and its popularity, Nightingale Diagnostic and Eye Care Research Center was renamed Nightingale Diagnostic and Medicare Center.
