Dr Vivek K Mehan is an internationally trained Interventional Cardiologist practising in Mumbai, with over 20 years experience in his field of specialisation. Dr Mehan has his private practice at Vile-Parle, and is an Honorary Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at the Nanavati Hospital (Vile Parle), Lilavati Hospital (Bandra), BSES Hospital (Andheri), Breach Candy Hospital and Criticare Hospital (Juhu). He is also a Visiting Associate at the University Hospital, Bern, Switzerland., Dr Mehan did his entire medical studies all throughout at the highest rated KEM Hospital in Mumbai, obtaining the MBBS degree in 1984; MD and DNB in Medicine in 1989; and, DM & DNB in Cardiology in 1991. He then underwent a Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology for 2 1/2years (1992-1994) with Prof. Bernhard Meier at the University Hospitals of Geneva and Bern in Switzerland (the birthplace of Coronary Angioplasty, which was first performed by Dr Andreas Gruentzig at Zurich in 1977). Prof Bernhard Meier is the longest living person associated with angioplasty (since he had assisted Dr Gruentzig with the very first angioplasty performed in Switzerland, in 1977).
